Book Spotlight & Giveaway - Find Me by Ella Jade

Genre: Paranormal Romance/ Time-Travel

A love that transcends time…

As her 25th birthday approaches, Riley Sparrow begins to dream of a handsome, intriguing stranger. Each night the dreams get more intense and the stranger starts leaving her clues to his whereabouts. The dreams always end in a whisper…

Find Me.

Riley has denied her birthright her entire life. She descends from a strong line of witches and warlocks, but she's refused her powers up until now. With the help of her estranged grandfather she learns that her mystery man is from the past and his life is in danger. Will her grandfather help her travel back to 1963 to save the man she believes she's meant to be with? A man she knows nothing about but feels a strong connection to.

If she finds him, can she save him from the evil that haunts them both? By securing his past, she knows there can never be a future for them in her time.

Content Warning: contains sensual sex scenes
Riley closed her eyes and let the heat of the water engulf her tired muscles. Resting her head against the bath pillow, she cleared her mind. The steam seeped out from the bubbles and swirled around the room. Soon the mirror and windows were fogged and a scented mist surrounded the bathroom, creating a relaxing atmosphere. A week's worth of sleepless nights had taken their toll and Riley drifted off.

The squeak of the faucet and the silence that followed distracted her tranquil thoughts. She opened her eyes to find him sitting on the edge of the tub looking at her. For a moment, she felt self-conscious. She glanced down and discovered her body covered in thick, white bubbles. He couldn't see anything but the tops of her shoulders, neck, and face.

"Sorry," he said. "I was afraid the water would overflow."

"Am I awake?"

He shook his head. She noted his green eyes sparkled even in the dim lighting of the bathroom.

"Well, then how—"

"It's complicated." His thin, pink lips formed a small smile. "I can't explain now."

"Why not?"

"There isn't enough time to make you understand while you're in your current state. We need much more time. You can get that for us."

"Are you real or am I crazy?"

"I'm very real, just stuck between realms. I've been waiting for you for a long time." He slid off the side of the tub and knelt down on the floor. "I'm afraid I can't stay very long. I keep trying to figure out how to increase the length of my visits but nothing seems to work."

"I don't know you."

"You will." He reached for the clip in her hair. "May I?"

She nodded.

Once he'd freed her hair from its confines, he smoothed the damp locks out with his hand. "I like when you wear it down. It's so pretty." He continued to stroke her hair. "You're just as beautiful as I remember."

"How do you know me?" She shifted her position to face him. She breathed in his crisp scent. He smelled of spice, maybe a hint of cinnamon.

"I…" He trailed off when his gaze caught her exposed breasts. He looked lost in a distant memory.

When she'd turned to face him she'd upset the bubbles shielding her. Her nipples hardened as she watched him take in her flesh. She no longer felt embarrassed.

"I have to go."

"You keep leaving me. I don't like it." Each time he left, he took a small piece of her with him.

"That's why you need to find me." He leaned forward. "I know you can. You're very powerful." He brushed his lips against her mouth. A rush of warmth coursed through her and settled between her legs. "Find me, Riley." He kissed the corner of her mouth, lingering a second longer than usual. She took the opportunity to run her tongue along his soft lips. "Find me now."

"How?" She wanted more than anything to find this man. "What do I need to do?"

"Tucker…" he whispered.

Riley slipped off the bath pillow and under the cold water. She quickly sat up and looked around. The bubbles had evaporated into the freezing water.

Did she turn the faucet off, or did…

I must be crazy.

She thought for a moment. Her mystery man had left her a big clue tonight. Now she needed to figure out what Tucker Sparrow had to do with any of this. It looked as if she would be paying a visit to a man she hadn't seen in a decade.

Cover Reveal - Truth or Dare by A.J. Bennett

Luna Alexander has always been a 'free spirit' and lived by her own rules, consequences be damned. With the approach of an anniversary she'd rather forget, Luna starts to wonder if there's more to life than partying and hooking up with hot guys.

A chance meeting with a dark knight knocks her off kilter and has her emotions spinning out of control.

Will she finally overcome her past for a chance at happiness, or will she hide behind the walls she's built around her?

Her body ached with an irrational need to have him close to her. She noticed several faint silver scars across his back. How had he gotten those?
The memory of his reaction to the scar on his stomach stopped her from asking.
Hunter wasn’t prepared to share anything with her other than his body. Understandable, she wasn’t exactly the type to bare her soul either.
She was startled by the realization that she would like to know what secrets he kept hidden underneath his hard exterior. Usually, she could care less about the men she got involved with. But she was intrigued to know what made him tick. What experiences in his past made him who he was today?
On that note, Luna kicked the sheets off her and swung her feet over the bed. “I guess it’s time for me to get home.”
“Stay the night with me,” he said gruffly without turning.
Thankfully she still had a sane corner in her mind. She shook her head. “I can’t. I have to work in the morning.”
“Call in sick.”
Luna laughed. Why did he have to be so freakin’ gorgeous. It was hard to say no, but she had to remain strong. “I don’t have that luxury.”
He nodded and moved towards her. Reaching down he drew her up, towering over her. “Alright, but I want to see you tomorrow.”
They stared at each other for so long she was beginning to feel uncomfortable. The air between them seemed to thicken making it hard to breath. She knew things were moving too fast, but couldn’t seem to find the words to protest.
His fingers closed around the back of her neck and his thumb stroked her collar bone. The tips of her naked breast grazed his firm chest.
“You’re making it hard to leave.”
“Tell me you’ll see me tomorrow.” He cupped her face and gave her a brief, but thorough kiss.
She swallowed visibly and nodded, dropping her head onto his chest moving into the embrace. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Maybe she was reading too much into it. Imagining, he sounded almost desperate to see her again.
Why couldn’t she shut off that cynical voice in her head and just enjoy the moment?

Mearra – Selkie from the Sea CD - Review & #Giveaway

Linda Marie Smith
Mearra – Selkie from the Sea

The ancient Celtic legend of the Selkie, a mythical seal with the mysterious ability to metamorphose into a human being, is the setting for Chicago-based singer/songwriter Linda Marie Smith's fourth album, Mearra – Selkie from the Sea, to be released in February 2014.

With a genre-crossing vocal style that encompasses a folk/rock sensibility, Linda Marie Smith's music is romantic, soulful, earthy, and mystical, with lyrics and melodies that weave colorful stories of curious places and intriguing people.  Linda has been compared to the likes of Christina Perri, Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams, Natalie Merchant, Jewel, and Sarah McLachlan.

An enigmatic and bittersweet story of love, loss, and transformation, Mearra – Selkie from the Sea begins with Mearra, a young Selkie maiden, falling in love with Ian, a lonely fisherman entranced by her beauty.  Mearra bids farewell to her life in the sea, marries Ian, and starts a family.  However, at the end of seven years, a Selkie must return to her watery cosmos.  The sea inexorably calls for Mearra's return.

Mearra – Selkie from the Sea transports listeners, inviting chldren and adults alike to use their imaginations as they enter an enchanted world that has inspired writers and composers like Yeats, Synge, and Arnold Bax for centuries.  The highly evocative "Ian's Song" sets a mood of Celtic mystery.  "Mearra" follows, and the listener is swept up in an expansive cloud of orchestral colors created by strings, percussion, and synthesizer that conjures images of sea, sky, and wild, rocky coastline.   "All This and More" delivers a change of pace with something of a Nashville country sound, which effectively introduces a human element into the watery, mystical world of the Selkie.  The jazziest number on the album is "Heaven Knows," with its upbeat rhythm set by piano, concertina, and enthusiastic hand clapping.

Immersed in music since childhood, Linda Marie Smith turned her attention to songwriting as an adult, and, in 1998, released a self-titled debut album, followed two years later by a second album, Blame it on the Moon.  Linda's first multi-media show, the critically acclaimed The Triumph of Artemisia, premiered in 2006, as did her album by the same name.   Her current project, the multi-media experience Mearra – Selkie from the Sea, forms the basis for its accompanying album, produced by Rich Rankin at Mosaic Music in Chicago.

Honored by the Billboard Songwriting Contest, Linda Marie Smith's music has also received recognition from the Illinois Arts Council in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts.  In addition to recording and performing, she teaches at Chicago's famed Old Town School of Folk Music.

Mearra – Selkie from the Sea will be available online at and iTunes.
My Thoughts When I sit down to work on a novel or even a blog post, I love to have music in the background. It has to be something soothing and uplifting. I am always on the lookout for new artists, and I was really excited to discover Linda Marie Smith. Her style is a combination of rock and folklore that is right up my alley. This particular CD derives from the Celtic legend of the Selkie and appeals to me even more. What makes the CD truly unique is that in addition to beautiful vocals and stunning instrumentals, including strings, percussion and synthesizer, the songs are telling a story. You journey with the young Selkie maiden Mearra as she falls in love with a mortal. Follow the tale through the heights of their passion to the devastation of Mearra's return to the sea.  Every song on the CD was written and performed by Linda herself, and listening to it is truly a magical experience. Anyone who enjoys new age or Celtic music is sure to love this masterpiece.  The Giveaway  One lucky winner is going to copy of the Selkie by the Sea CD!  To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway will end on 2/15/13. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. About the author:

Sharon Kay was bitten early by the writing bug. At age twelve she wrote a short story, about a magic ring, that won a statewide Young Authors contest. With her nose always in a book, she read the most novels for her age group in her local library’s summer reading program. In her teens, writing took a back seat to fashion, as she was determined to find clothes different from what everyone else bought at the mall. And what she couldn’t find, she created. She learned to sew, worked in a fabric store after school, and spent her spare time with a needle in hand. Her black and orange prom dress is still one of her favorite creations. Sharon lives in the Chicago area with her husband and son, and didn’t expect to write again. But Wicked Wind and the Solsti series formed in her head one weekend and refused to stay quiet until she put pen to paper. Her characters tend to keep her up at night, as they banter, fall in love, and slay endless varieties of power-hungry demons. Sharon loves to hear from readers! Buy Books in Bulk at Bookpal!

The concept of purchasing wholesale product, or buying in bulk, is nothing in new. When you buy in bulk, you buy a larger quantity of product, but you pay less for each individual product that is purchase. For instance, at a grocery store a 12-pack of paper towels may cost $8.99, but at a wholesale store a 48-pack of paper towels may only cost $24.99. Sure, you are paying $16.00 more for paper towels, but you're getting 48 rolls, which makes them 52 cents apiece; whereas with the 12-pack, each individual roll is 74 cents. And you know you'll eventually use all of those paper towels, so it's a good buy.

Buying books in bulk works the same way. Bulk book sites like Bookpal are perfect if you need to stock a classroom, a library, or even set up a church or community reading group with books. Even used copies of books can be expensive to purchase from bookstores and websites, and not everyone is able to afford an electronic book reader, so choosing to buy books in bulk is an excellent opportunity to get the books you need and further your love of reading - as well as spread it to others.

Book Spotlight - Best Fake Day by Tracey Rogers

Faking it never felt so good.

Wedding photographer and romance lover Izzy Latham dreams of finding her own happily-ever-after. When her former teenage crush arrives at her doorstep, looking sexier than ever, and asks to marry her, it should be her dream come true, right? Wrong. It turns out he doesn't want to actually marry her—he only wants to pretend to marry her.

Marriage hater Jack Carter will do anything to close his latest business deal, including finding a wife. The only person who can help him is his childhood friend, Izzy. Except Izzy isn't a little girl anymore. She's definitely all woman, and there's an attraction between them that's hard to ignore.

Jack has to convince Izzy to fake it, but the problem is that she hates to lie. However, she can't deny her feelings for him either. So when Jack makes her an offer she can't refuse, she reluctantly agrees to help him out.

Faking it is the easy part. But what happens when fake starts to feel so real?

Content Warning: contains sensual sex and occasional strong language

"Let me work off the money," Izzy said.

She felt Jack's gaze rake over her body, watched the clench of his jaw. "And how are you planning to work it off, Isabel?" he almost growled. "Is that what all of this is about?" he asked as his hand made an indicating sweep over her body. "Dress to impress so you can pay me in kind?"

"Oh God, no," she spluttered. "This is me showing you I'm not the weak, naïve girl I used to be and I won't be pushed around!"

The hard glint in his eyes softened slightly. "You were never weak. Naïve…" He trailed off. "So how exactly were you planning to pay me back?"

"Working here for you for free until I pay you back. I could collect glasses, work the bar, or clean."

"And you have experience in any of those roles?"

"No. But I could learn."

"But what about the house repairs?"

She shrugged. "I could do that during the daytime and work here at night. Then when I'm earning again from my day job I'll pay you back."

"And what exactly is your day job?"

"I'm a photographer. I could even do that here. Take photographs of the patrons and sell them for you."

"You work freelance?”

"I have my own business." She hesitated before elaborating. "As a wedding photographer," she said quickly, hoping he wouldn't snag the teasing opportunity.

Too late. The corner of his mouth quirked until it bloomed until a grin. "A wedding photographer. How appropriate. I knew playing dress-up with your mother's veil and having teddy bears as your guests would have an influence on you one day."

"You mean like wanting to have a traditional wedding where the groom doesn't have to bribe the bride? Yeah, my childhood messed me up real bad," she said with sarcasm.

"You're not working here, Izzy. And this conversation is over."

"No, it's not. I'm giving you a solution to paying off what I owe. I'll work off the amount Ellie paid for our debts and the rest you get from her. So when do I start?"

"You are not working here."

"Do you really want to have some guy groping you as you serve drinks? Or a group of guys? I run a tight ship and look out for my staff, but sometimes it happens."

"I can look after myself. I have been groped before, you know. I can deal with it."

He slid his chair closer, bending his legs so hers surrounded him without touching, but close, very close. He looked up at her under dark lashes. "So if some guy puts a hand on your leg you wouldn’t mind?"

She shook her head.

"And if that hand strayed beneath your dress?" he asked as his hand reached out to graze the sensitive skin of her inner thigh, making her shudder.

She shook her head slowly, earning a dark look. Of course she would mind. But this was Jack.

He stood abruptly, stepping into the v of her thighs. "And if a guy tried to kiss you?"

"I have been kissed before, remember?" she said, inwardly cringing at how breathless she sounded.

"I remember being a boy kissing you as a girl. If I were to kiss you now I wouldn’t be holding back and I wouldn’t be kissing you as a boy—I’d be kissing you as a man."

"Then do it," she demanded.

Book Tour & Giveaway - Sympathy for the Devil by Gregg Levine

Book Tour What if you could change your world? Sympathy For The Devil is the very original story about a fallen angel who decided it was time to change his world, find his way home, and create his own image. "He showed me things, ways of doing things, ways to live, ways to make magic. Now I know you may not believe me when I tell you this, but I'm not talking about tricks, oh no, I mean real magic. Magic that can make things happen, magic that can actually manifest things into reality. He gave me everything and he never asked for anything in return, almost." - Sympathy For The Devil On an ordinary Saturday afternoon, Mr. Homan, an old man at a young age because of a mystery illness, was on his way home from watching a local baseball game. After falling and nearly drowning in a simple puddle in the street, Mr. Homan is saved by a mysterious stranger known as the Master. The Master offers Mr. Homan more than just a helping hand, he offers Mr. Homan his health and his life back, but at a price. In a city like this, another murder would be business as usual, but there was nothing usual about this murder to investigator Donavan Diego because what the public didn't know was that this murder was only one of over thirty in a series of slayings that police still had only two leads on. The first lead was the nameless John Doe who was the only victim to somehow survive one of the vicious attacks. However, the attack left John Doe mangled, locked up in an insane asylum, and refusing to speak. The other lead was the first suspect and the person who police realized knew most of the victims, at least most of the ones that could be identified. That person and first suspect was Donavan Diego himself and it was all part of the Master's plan. Over eight years in the making, Sympathy For The Devil is a gripping mystery unlike anything you have ever read with tons of twists that will keep you mesmerized until the very last sentence. However, at the heart and soul of Sympathy For The Devil is a unique story of fighting for what you must against all odds and personal evolution.

About the author:

Gregg Levine has been writing short stories for himself all of his life. His debut novel, Sympathy For The Devil, has been something he has been working on for just as long. Having the general concept of Sympathy For The Devil in his mind for years since college, Gregg started but never finished many stories that he felt just weren't telling the story in the way it was meant to be told. However, through the seeds of trial and error that had been planted in those unfinished stories and eventually a series of connected events, the full idea for Sympathy For The Devil spawned and eight years later Gregg finally finished writing it.

Book Spotlight - Alien Admirer by Jessica E. Subject

He fills her with forbidden longing…

Widowed for over a year, Sera longs for the company of her younger, sexier neighbor, the one man she can never have—unless she plans to rob the cradle. It’s too dangerous…
She’s the only one for him…

Adam never wanted to settle down…until Sera. But even when her children give him the green light, he must prove age is an alien concept...

Will Sera give him a chance, or will Adam be left in the cold, never more than her alien admirer?

What is it going to take to convince her I want her? On the ride home, he’d persuaded himself to give up on Sera. Until he’d seen her on the porch. He had to seize what might be his lone opportunity.

“Why do you have such a problem accepting that I’m attracted to you?”

She faced him again, her cheeks glowing with color. “I don’t have a problem with that. In fact, I’m flattered. I have a problem with how much I’m attracted to you, how even on my date, I couldn’t get you out of my head.”

It was all the invitation he needed. Closing the space between them, he held her, pressing his lips to hers. Sera moaned, her body tight against his. She didn’t push him away, instead wrapping her arms around him, running her foot up and down the back of his calf.

He clutched her thighs, pulling her up to straddle his waist. Every moan encouraged him to keep going. He wanted more.

“Inside,” she said in a breathless whisper. “Take me into the house.”

All right! Grasping and fumbling with the handle, he managed to open the door without letting her go. Focused on her in his arms, he shuffled around blindly until his knees met her couch. He laid Sera on the cushion, but she clung to him.

“No, my bedroom. And be sure to close the door.”

Her room? Holy shit! Before that moment, he’d expected several days of trying to win her over before she invited him to her room, if she ever even acknowledged his feelings.

He carried her up the butcher block wood steps, to the bedroom he’d helped build. While he’d helped build every part of the house, the master bedroom remained the one room he hadn’t entered since Sera moved in.
Sacred, just like her body.

Book Tour - Scattered by M. Weidenbenner

Release Day Tour Scattered Links is a novel that pulls its characters from the gutters and, in the end, celebrates the tenacity of the human spirit. Thirteen-year-old Oksana lives on the streets of Russia with her pregnant mama and abusive aunt—both prostitutes. When Mama swells into labor, Oksana makes a decision to save herself from abandonment, a decision that torments her forever. When her plan fails and her aunt dumps her in an orphanage, she never has the chance to say goodbye to her mama or tell her the secret that haunts her. Scattered Links is a story of family and the consequences that come from never learning how to love, of a girl’s inability to bond with her adopted family and the frustrations that follow. How can a child understand the mechanics of forming a healthy relationship when she never had a mother who answered her cries, held her when she was frightened, fed her when she was hungry, or loved her unconditionally? Only when the child meets a rescued abused horse, and recognizes the pain in his eyes, does she begin to trust again.
Scattered Links, (initially titled Love is Just a Word), was the winner of the 2013 Aspiring Writers Competition, sponsored by Write on Con and The Reading Room. Scattered Links was intended to show a glimpse into the life of a child with RAD, reactive attachment disorder, so prevalent in children who never had unconditional love in infancy. This novel was inspired by Michelle’s journey to Russia to adopt her orphan daughter. Upon seeing the neglect of orphanage children and learning of the effects of RAD in post-institutionalized children, Michelle researched this disorder, committed to giving her daughter the best chance at a healthy life. Sadly, many parents can’t cope with the behavior from kids with RAD and re-home their children like pets.

But when her brothers pitched in with the cooking, cleaning, and babysitting—without drama, Michelle discovered having brothers wasn’t so bad. They even taught her how to take direct criticism without flinching, which might come in handy with book reviews. Michelle blogs at Random Writing Rants where she teaches and encourages writers how to get published.

They think they’re fooling their parents, but really, the joke’s on them.

Kayla Ames’s parents could win an award in meddling. Every time she turns around, they’re setting her up with someone new. Try as she might, she can’t convince them to butt out of her love life.

Ryan Newell isn’t looking for love. After having his heart torn to shreds by his ex, he’s determined to never again fall in love and leave himself that vulnerable to being hurt. His parents, however, believe he just needs some help finding the right woman, and their friends’ daughter, Kayla, might be a perfect match.

Realizing they both have the same problem—parents who won’t stop nagging them about finding a partner—Ryan and Kayla agree to an arrangement of sorts. All they have to do is pretend to date, and they don’t even have to see each other, they can discuss the details of their “dates” via email. But then the email conversations lead to real dates, and Kayla finds herself struggling to keep her feelings for Ryan in check as he’s made it clear love will not enter into the equation for him. Then Kayla’s parents suddenly announce they’re getting a divorce, and she begins to wonder if maybe Ryan has the right idea.

When it all gets to be too much for Kayla, she has a hard decision to make—agree to stay with Ryan and never experience love, or walk away for her chance to find it.

Excerpt 1:
Leaning forward, Kayla grabbed the remote and turned the TV off. It was early still and since she wasn't tired, sleep wasn't an option. She could go out again. Maybe call a friend to go to a club or something. Or she could go back to the bar from last night…no, no she couldn't.

If she went out though, she'd have to change. And she was really comfortable. She grabbed the remote again, and as the TV turned on, she swore she heard someone tap on her door. Was Bunny chewing on something she shouldn't be?

Kayla got off the couch, but saw the rabbit had taken a corner and was lying there, far away from the front door. She peeked through the peephole and, to her surprise, she saw Doug, or whatever his name was. Why was he there? And what was he carrying in his hands?

Taking a deep breath, she opened the door. "Hi."

"It's nice to see you again." He smiled an oh-so-sexy grin. "Your parents sent me with food. They insisted I get this to you right away."

"They did, huh?"

He held the bag out to her and she took it. "Could I come in?"

She sucked in her bottom lip and weighed her choices. Send him away and be done with this, or see what he wants. What did she have to lose? "Sure."

Doug brushed past her into her house. She stood back a moment, watching him as he glanced around and then finally took a seat on her couch. Kayla joined the mystery man in the living room, tossing the bag of food on the coffee table as she sat on the love seat opposite of the couch he was on. Her stomach rumbled as she inhaled the aroma from the bag now sitting on the coffee table.

"So, what brings you by, besides the food?" she asked, and quickly added, "Please tell me your real name as well. It's only fair since you know mine."

"Kayla, and it's a lovely name. Mine is actually Ryan. Ryan Newell." He took a moment to rub his temple and proceeded. "Obviously, our parents are interested in us hooking up."

Hooking up…they'd covered that already. "I'm sorry. My parents are a bit over the top."

"I'd have to agree. Yours are a little worse than mine. Usually my parents leave me alone, but with your folks, it was like they were double-teaming me. They feel very strongly about you and I getting to know one another."

"Figures. I'd say we accomplished that in a way they probably weren't wanting."

He grinned again. Her heart fluttered. She needed to pack this man up and get him out of there.

"Why don't we give them what they want?"

What did he say? He couldn't really want to go along with them. "Excuse me."

"Let's date, for them. It'll get them to leave us alone."

She laughed. He wasn't serious, was he? "Brilliant plan, but I'll pass for now."

"Just hear me out. I'm not looking to fall in love. But if we pretend to be dating, our parents won't try to set us up anymore. We don't even have to see one another. We can discuss our dates and be on the same page with our stories."

"Wait." She held her hand up, staring at the dark-haired man that made her stomach do summersaults. "You're saying we aren't going to actually date. We never have to see one another. But our parents will think we are."

He nodded.

"I'm in." Kayla shrugged. "What could go wrong?"
